QC Mistakes to Avoid

February 1, 20268 min readLoongbuy Team

Every week, hundreds of buyers on the Loongbuy Spreadsheet receive items they regret. The vast majority of these disappointments trace back to one root cause: QC mistakes. This article lists the ten most common QC mistakes to avoid and exactly how to sidestep each one.

1. Skipping QC Entirely

The number one mistake is not requesting QC photos at all. Some buyers trust the seller\'s stock photos or assume \"it will be fine.\" It rarely is. Always pay the small QC fee — it is cheaper than shipping back a bad item or eating a loss.

2. Approving Without Comparing to Retail

Looking at QC photos in isolation is useless. You need retail reference photos from the same angle, under similar lighting. Google Images and r/Repsneakers are your friends. Side-by-side comparison reveals flaws you would never spot otherwise.

3. Focusing on Minor Flaws and Missing Major Ones

New buyers obsess over tiny stitching inconsistencies that no one will notice on foot, while missing major shape or material flaws. Learn the difference between \"calloutable\" flaws and microscopic nitpicks.

4. Not Checking Size and Fit

QC photos should include an insole measurement. Compare this to a shoe you already own. Chinese sizing runs differently — a US 10 might have an insole length of 28cm in one batch and 27.5cm in another. That half-centimeter matters.

5. Ignoring the Weight

Your agent lists the package weight. If a hoodie weighs 350g when the retail version is 800g, you are getting a thin, cheap blank. Weight is a proxy for quality that many buyers overlook.

6. Approving Under Time Pressure

Agents give you a window (usually 3-7 days) to approve or return. Do not rush. Take your time, post the QC for community feedback, and make an informed decision. Rushed approvals cause the most regrets.

7. Not Requesting Specific Angles

Default QC photo sets miss critical angles. If you are buying shoes, you need heel shape, toe box, medial side, outsole, insole, and tongue photos. If the default set skips any of these, message your agent and request additional photos.

8. Trusting One QC Source

If you are uncertain, post your QC photos on multiple forums. Different communities have different expertise — r/Repsneakers for shoes, r/FashionReps for clothing. Cross-referencing feedback gives you the full picture.

9. Forgetting to Check Accessories

Boxes, extra laces, tags, and dust bags are part of the item. If you care about these, verify them in QC. Many buyers focus only on the main item and are disappointed when accessories are missing or wrong.

10. Not Documenting Defects Before Returning

If you request a return due to defects, screenshot the QC photos with the flaws circled. Some sellers dispute returns claiming the item is fine. Documentation protects your case and speeds up the exchange process.
